From June 11 to 13, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) held a Conference of West African Experts on Countering Terrorist Threats to Vulnerable Targets at its Programme Office in Rabat, Morocco, as part of the Global Programme on Countering Terrorist Threats to Vulnerable Targets. Mr. Ignacio Ibáñez, Head of the UNOCT Madrid Office and Program Coordinator; H.E. Christophe Lecourtier, Ambassador of France to Morocco, as financing partner; and a representative of the Kingdom of Morocco, as host nation, gave statements during the inaugural session. The conference’s objectives were to improve regional and global collaboration, encourage coordinated approaches to preventing, responding to, and recovering from terrorist acts, and make it easier for West African nations to share best practices and experience.
