BRICS member nations are calling for revised reaction structures in response to the increasing exploitation of new internet technologies for terrorist goals. The bloc’s Counterterrorism Group, led by Brazil’s Intelligence Agency (ABIN), met in Brasilia on Thursday, June 5, and advanced talks to make sure member nations are better prepared to fight terrorism in a proactive and preventative manner. The deep web, social media, online gaming, and artificial intelligence are all being used by terrorist groups worldwide to disseminate propaganda and misinformation that encourages terrorism. According to the BRICS Working Group’s recommendations, addressing these changing risks calls for modifying response strategies and funding the development of collective capability. Presenting its recently announced threat prevention protocol to BRICS member nations during a best practices workshop, ABIN positioned the protocol as a means of fostering global collaboration. In addition to outlining proactive and reactive strategies to combat violent extremism, the study provides a strategic evaluation of the danger landscape.
