Burnt out and radicalised: how workplace exhaustion breeds extremist thinking – new study (The Conversation)

According to a recent study, there is a concerning correlation between support for extremist ideology and occupational stress. People may become less psychologically resilient and feel more betrayed or helpless as their level of tiredness rises, which leaves them more vulnerable to extremist ideologies. Burnout is associated with a higher endorsement of violence, especially among individuals who feel alienated from institutions, according to survey data collected from more than 1,000 participants. According to the findings, exhaustion can weaken trust and create a feeling of unfairness, both of which might encourage extremist thought. Reducing vulnerability to radicalization and halting the growth of conspiracy-driven violence may require addressing workplace stress through supportive workplaces and mental health resources.
