Phase I of the 12-month PER-VEO project, which aims to improve the reintegration of violent extremist offenders (VEOs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was initiated by the Council of Europe on January 1, 2025. The project, which is being carried out in cooperation with justice ministries at the national and regional levels as well as pertinent institutions, aims to improve institutional frameworks and operational capacities for handling, rehabilitating, and reintegrating radicalized individuals. In keeping with the Council of Europe Action Plan (2022–2025) and expanding on previous initiatives under the ESPA-VEP program, PER-VEO also emphasizes jail staff capacity-development to guarantee sustainable VEO management practices.
