In Australia and the UK, far-right extremism is becoming a serious security threat. Using a comparative case-study methodology, the current article examines how gendered narratives and sexism propagated through internet platforms serve as transnational catalysts for violent extremism. It makes the case that sexism serves as a common ideological theme among various far-right actors, and that gendered language influences recruitment and participation dynamics for both men and women. These stories create a shared framework for communication in both countries, which promotes ideological convergence across borders. By identifying three layers through which sexism and gendered narratives legitimize and maintain extremist membership, the study provides important insights for P/CVE practitioners.
