Europol coordinated a Referral Action Day (RAD) on the exploitation and radicalization of children on the internet on May 27. During the action day, almost two thousand links were directed to terrorist propaganda and violent extremist and jihadist websites that target children. The referral day happened just a few weeks after Europol established a new Operational Taskforce to address the growing problem of young criminals being recruited into organized and severe crime. More than 70% of illegal marketplaces now involve kids, according to recent statistics submitted to Europol. One of Europol’s top concerns is preventing youngsters from being enlisted and taken advantage of by criminal organizations.
